September and January start dates for many programmes
We realise that not all students can always make it in time to start their programme in September which is traditionally when course in the UK start. For that reason Northumbria offers many of its postgraduate programmes with the option of starts at the beginning of the calendar year in January. These are publicised on our website, and cover most of our subjects. .

Newcastle is ideally located on the UK's East Coast Mainline which offers extremely fast train transport to other major cities within the UK such as Edinburgh (just 1.5 hours from Newcastle). and London (under three hours from Newcastle). This is one of the very best ways to explore the UK when you are not studying. Students can apply for a discount railcard which reduces the cost of train travel substantially
Low cost of living compared with many parts of the UK
The city of Newcastle offers a huge choice of accommodation for students. The University has its own student accommodation and there is also plenty of choice in the private sector for those who decide to find their own place to live. Prices are competitive compared to many other cities. University accommodation includes single room flats in halls of residence. Some halls offer up to two meals per day, while others are self-catering the university also offers managed accommodation, flats and houses for people sharing, located off campus. The least expensive University accommodation starts from around £60 per week. International students are guaranteed University accommodation provided that we receive your application by the deadline
We'll meet you at the airport We want you to get here with the minimum of fuss and stress. Northumbria offers all new international and EU students a free Meet and Greet service, which includes a free pick-up from Newcastle International Airport. Students must book for this service at least three working days before their arrival. We would encourage you to register for this in good time before the start of term.
