Stage 01

Foundations of Professional Knowledge and Skills module provides you with the requisite quantitative awareness and analysis of "1.Foundations of Professional Knowledge and Skillsthe production of 'knowledge' within management, marketing and finance and encourages you to begin developing the necessary personal skills for both academic and business environments.

Foundations of Financial Analysis and Investment module sets down the fundamental conceptual framework for financial analysis, focusing on intertemporal "2.Foundations of Financial Analysis and Investmentchoice. It examines the role and nature of financial markets and institutions, the determination of interest rates; investment and savings decisions and capital budgeting.


Financial Statements: Theory, Practice, Critique "3.Financial Statements: Theory, Practice, Critique" You will study reporting; balance sheets; profit and loss; cash-flow statements management; financial forecasting and budgeting.


Strategic Financial Management in the context of financial management; growth/share matrices; "4.Strategic Financial Management"shareholder value analysis; corporate restructuring; mergers and acquisitions; management buyouts and corporate governance will be considered.

Financial Modelling module explores the use of quantitative techniques to analyse financial information and to assist decision-making "5.Financial Modelling" through the use of descriptive statistics, probability and probability distributions; statistical inference; regression analysis and time series analysis.


Stage 02

Financial Risk Management, You will gain an overview of risk management, forward and future markets, "1.Financial Risk Managementswaps, options and corporate finance, warrants and convertibles, risk management strategy, interest rate risk and security design.

Corporate Finance module introduces the firm; equity; issuing shares; costs of issue; rights issues etc; "2.Corporate Financedebt; warrants; convertibles; leasing and quasi-debt; valuation of a company; mergers; growth and failure and disinvestment.

Stage 03

Research Methods introduces the process of social science research and the fundamental debates pertaining to the philosophy of social science. It provides research methods training in a range of techniques which you will "Module 4: Research Methodsbe able to apply as you move on to the dissertation stage of the programme.

The Dissertation provides you with the opportunity to examine a topic of your choice that is relevant to the course. The dissertation should combine a literature review with empirical research and you will be allocated a supervisor "Dissertation who can advise you during the process. In designing, conducting and writing up the research, you will develop core social research and project management skills.
